How to resolve a Manual Open JDB Transactions alert

ERP Suites CNCs typically set the Manual Open JDB Trans per Ent Server alert for >=3 to spot increasing database activity. When Clarity sends an alert, follow these steps to bring the number back down.

  1. Clarity email alerts include the type of metric, the threshold hit and the server involved. Use this information to log in to Server Manager and navigate to the correct E1 Enterprise Server instance.

  2. Click on the instance to view Runtime Metrics. Then, select Process Detail.
  3. Find the Manual Open JDB Transactions column in the table. Then, click on the title to sort. This will help you find which kernels have manual open transactions occurring.
  4. If all kernels are showing as 0, the manual transaction has already cleared. And you don’t need to do anything more.
  5. If kernels are showing as anything other than 0, click on the log file and look for error messages. Kill any Call Object Kernels related to errors. These could lead to outstanding requests on other transactions and potentially bring the production system to a halt.
